Football, Quality TV and New Talent top the league on ITV1 this autumn
Britannia High, Soccer Aid, and the FA Cup, as well as some of the best new TV talent in the UK, come to ITV1 this autumn.
The autumn season on ITV1 is underpinned by top football action, exciting event television, sparkling new entertainment, great original drama and factual programmes together with viewers’ favourites The X Factor and I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!
Peter Fincham, Director of Programmes, ITV said: “We are kicking off the autumn with the best of national and international football – ITV1 will be the home of the FA Cup, England Internationals and the UEFA Champions League for the next four years. ITV.com/football will also be our online football oracle, complementing our massive on-air offering with exclusive video highlights and post match interviews, specially commissioned content, blogs, games and forums.”
Our drama line up sees exciting, fresh young talent making their television debuts on ITV1 alongside some of the UK’s leading actors. Direct from her appearance in the West End is Connie Fisher who stars in Caught In A Trap, plus the sassy young cast of our brand new musical drama Britannia High. Joining them on ITV1 are some of the UK’s most stellar stars including, Richard E Grant, Hugh Bonneville, Alex Kingston, Juliet Stevenson, Geraldine James, Toby Stephens, Kelly Reilly, Sean Bean, Robson Green, Michelle Ryan, Kevin Whately, Amanda Burton, Martin Clunes and Stephen Fry.
In entertainment, musical drama Britannia High follows the fortunes of six students at a leading performing arts school while in The X Factor new judge Cheryl Cole takes her seat alongside Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Danni Minogue to cast a critical eye, and ear, over a host of new hopefuls as they try and make it to the top of the music industry. ITV1 is also launching a brand new entertainment variety spectacular – For One Night Only and welcomes more of the world’s greatest female recording artists to entertain in Divas 2. The award winning I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! takes us back to the Australian jungle while Harry Hill and Al Murray return with TV Burp and the infamous Pub Landlord.
Fincham added: “The hugely popular Soccer Aid also returns this autumn with an amazing line up of football stars and celebrities battling it out on the pitch in aid of Unicef.. While in factual, Trinny and Susannah Undress the Nation with a third series of the popular makeover challenge. In The Line Of Fire takes a ‘no holds barred’ look at life on the frontline for the CO19 special unit set up to deal with gun crime in London. Griff Rhys Jones paints a landmark portrait of three of the world’s greatest cities for a new three-part documentary in Griff Rhys Jones: Greatest Cities of the World (WT). While Melvyn Bragg chairs lively discussions on ten of Western art’s most fascinating religious pictures in Faith In The Frame.
“CITV continues to educate and entertain and I’m delighted that we have commissioned a brand new children’s programme, Bookaboo, a multi-platform live action and animation series that promotes child literacy.”
ITV1 continues to expand its online content. Britannia High will be accompanied by an extensive on-line offering, allowing fans of the show to fully immerse themselves in the exciting production. Fans will also be able to interact with the characters via video, blogs and social networking for a completely entertaining and engaging new experience that goes well beyond the TV screen.
