THE FORTRESS CITY published by K. G. Childs

- ENFIELD, MIDDX, UK, December 01, 2005 - Book Description: The Fortress City follows Bray from baby to hero. His parents flee into the mountains from a great unseen evil. They"re injured and weak from the ordeal, and a farmer and his wife save them from the harsh conditions of the ice laden peaks. Bray"s father, Lutan, recovers, but Gelentre, his mother, dies. Before she passes, she gives a magical keepsake to the couple that will answer Bray"s questions when he"s older. Lutan explains that the evil they"re fleeing from will try and kill Bray in the future. Rubin, the farmer, adopts Bray into his family for the boy"s safety, and then his father, Lutan, disappears without a trace.

Rubin and his wife Abigail then take their newly adopted Grandson to Rubin"s ancestral home, the town of Brehatch. Rubin had been away from Brehatch for thirty years, and things have changed. The town is now full of fear and suspicion. These emotions follow Bray through his childhood in the form of bullying children and cruel uncles. When Bray is seventeen, he discovers the truth about his heritage, and sets off on a long journey of discovery, where he meets a number of characters - some friendly, and some intent on killing him.
