Power Cash Advance Determines Cash Advances a Valuable Service for Tax-Burdened Americans

- SCOTTSDALE, AZ, December 11, 2005 - As the year comes to a close, everyone in the United States will have to figure out how to pay for their own tax liability. With energy costs on the rise many Americans will be forced to look for alternative means to ensure that their taxes are paid on time.

The National Taxpayers Union (NTU) describes cash advances as "a valuable tool that helps millions of American get through short-term credit challenges, including those with limited funds on tax day." Cash advances charge a small fee per hundred dollars borrowed and allow the flexibility that situations such as this demand. These cash advance loans are no stranger to the media, only in most circumstances they are characterized as loans targeted toward low-income families that have outrageously high interest rates.

"Evidence clearly shows that cash advance fulfill a critical financial need for millions of individuals in states across the country," said Al Cors, NTU Vice President for Government Affairs. "Critics are using flawed statistics and false motives to influence politicians, threatening this financial lifeline for hard-working Americans."

Recent research by the Community Financial Services Association of America (CFSA) has shown that the predatory attitudes associated with cash advances targeting lower-income families are in fact false. Of the cash advance customers surveyed, 42% own homes, 94% have a high school diploma or better, and 56% have some college or have obtained a college degree.

Cash advances are used for a variety of reasons, such as emergency expenses or - as the NTU suggests - an easy way to secure the funding necessary to meet individual tax liability.
