Requests for the Martha Stewart Poncho Pattern Just Topped 1 Million Downloads

- MANHATTAN, NY, August 13, 2005 - The Lion Brand Yarn Company (http://www.lionbrand.com) today announced that visitors to their Web site have downloaded over 1 million copies of the the "Coming Home" poncho pattern, which was made famous by Martha Stewart. The pattern was first made available in a knit and a crochet version last March from the Lion Brand Web site. On an average day it is still requested over 1600 times, making it the most requested pattern ever offered by Lion Brand.

"It"s quite remarkable that it took only 150 days for us to get over a million requests this pattern." said Ilana Rabinowitz, director of consumer marketing for Lion Brand Yarn. "The fact that we continue to get about 1600 new requests for this pattern a day is even more amazing."

The free patterns were first offered to Lion Brand customers in early March of 2005 following a massive number of customer requests. Lion Brand quickly made both a knit and crochet version of the poncho available at no cost to their customers, from their Web site. The rest is history. This September the poncho will be featured on the new Martha Stewart Show. The studio audience will feature 160 people who made the Martha poncho based on the Lion Brand pattern.

The pattern is still available on the Lion Brand Web site at http://www.LionBrand.com />
