"Behind the Label" Feature Launches in Lucire Magazine
- NEW YORK, NY, August 25, 2005 - Lucire, a New Zealand-based global fashion magazine is introducing a new monthly feature starting this September for their "Sex" issue.
Every month, model and social entrepreneur, Summer Rayne Oakes will write and model for Behind the Label. In the article, Oakes gives the readers a sneak peak into her closet, revealing some of her favorite ecofashion brands. Each article will reflect the overall theme of the magazine and focus on a personal story of a different socially-conscious clothing designer every month.
Keeping in line with Lucire"s mission to bring quality reporting to a more informed woman, Summer Rayne goes well beyond the traditional fashion puff-piece and delves into the soulful story behind labels that she wears. The writing style is uniquely all her own, providing readers a concise, but in-depth story behind ecofashion brands while personally conveying her own while-she-wears experiences with her upbeat, sometimes playfully unabashed tone.
For September, Oakes introduces the Lucire reader to Gaelyn and Cianfarani, a New York design line that employs recycled rubber, latex, and organic fabric into their sexy and socially-conscious label. The equally sexy editorial was skillfully shot by photographer, Storm Williams. "I chose Storm for this shoot because he has an incredible eye for catching emotion. I had worked with him in the past and felt very comfortable with his style and knew he would be perfect for Lucire"s September issue," remarks Oakes. "His work is equally edgy and sexy because that"s what he brings out in the model."
"I was thrilled when she [Oakes] asked me to be a part of the shoot," remarks Williams. I completely connected to the concept even before she finished speaking. I"m from a beach town, love being outdoors, and have a deep-founded respect for the environment...It feels great to bring that out in my fashion and film whenever I have the opportunity. Working with Summer Rayne on "Behind the Label" definitely hits on that passion."
