Scott Hair, Owner of Green Frog Markets in Bakersfield, California, was sworn in as new Chairman by outgoing Chairman Bob Spengler, President of Save Mart Supermarkets in Modesto. With six years of experience as a CIGA Board Member and a previous five-year term as President of the Kern County Independent Grocers Association, Mr. Hair is well-prepared for his new position and looks forward to promoting the state"s independent grocery sector in the year ahead. Mr. Hair will also make membership growth in southern California a priority to strengthen the outreach of the association.
Honoring a commitment to investigate opportunities for affiliating with like-minded associations, Mr. Hair kicked off his term by participating in the NGA Supercenter Share Group Meetings April 18 - 20 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Member companies and industry experts met to create, refine, and implement education solutions to more effectively compete with supercenters.
