Announcing WikiScuba.com, the first truly independent and globally interactive scuba diving encyclopedia in the world

- UNITED KINGDOM - March 07, 2006 - "I was finding it so difficult to find an objective source of scuba diving specific information, particularly with regard to diving destinations, that I jumped at the chance to help create wikiscuba" said Charles Kiyanda, a wikiscuba founder.

WikiScuba, which is available on the .org, .com, and .net extensions, is an internet based encylopedia, in which any visitor can add to, and edit information held there, helping the global scuba diving community. Using mediawiki, the same software as the world renowned encyclopedia, Wikipedia, and the world renowned travel guide, Wikitravel, the aim of WikiScuba is to follow in these footsteps and compliment these great resources.

Andy Carroll summed up how readily this idea has been received by scuba divers around the world "Even though we are at a very early stage in this project, the amount of emails and positive messages of support has been phenomenal, WikiScuba is really bringing scuba divers together from all round the world. It is more than we could have ever hoped."
