- ROSEVILLE, MI, November 13, 2006 - In July 2006, "s country staff in Lebanon began immediately assisting with relief efforts by helping evacuate civilian families to safer territories in the North. Much of Lebanon"s physical and social infrastructure has been devastated and more than one million people have been directly impacted by the conflict. Working with our local partners, has been:
• Distributing hot meals to thousands of displaced people;
• Providing life-saving medicines and supplies to hospitals and clinics that were not equipped for the increased demand by thousands of displaced families;
• Providing psychosocial support to children who have been traumatized by the events of the past few months;
• Planning for interventions to ensure access to clean drinking water and hygienic sanitation systems to reduce the threat of disease; and
• Restoring livelihoods and jobs for thousands of students, farmers fishermen; and unskilled laborers by providing them with the tools, skills, and resources they need to get back on their feet for the long term.
