Man who bought Fitzroy Island to feature at event in Sydney this weekend
- SUNSHINE COAST, AUSTRALIA, November 30, 2006 - A 35-year-old Queensland man who grew up in a caravan travelling around Australia with his family has just purchased and committed "about $100 million" to developing Fitzroy Island, off Cairns, and to fund the first stage of a major redevelopment. Hunt will travel to Sydney this weekend to feature at an event for property investors to share his incredible rags to riches story.
Josh Hunt, who is based on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland is planning to construct a luxury 48-apartment block and a double storey shopping complex on the island, adding to his extensive existing property portfolio and business interests which already includes restaurants, consulting and working within the fashion industry.
Named by Captain Cook in 1770, Fitzroy Island is 339 hectares of World Heritage listed rainforest and national park spilling into the Great Barrier Reef. It sits 270m out of the water, measures 3.2km in length, is a 35-minute boat ride from Cairns and has a 128-bed, three-star backpacker accommodation.
Although he"s on top now, things weren"t always so rosy. Hunt will share at the event this weekend how in 1999 he lost everything through a company partnership that didn"t go to plan which gave him time to reflect and move more into the property side of life where the margins could be more substantial.
Dymphna Boholt, a personal friend of Josh Hunt, a fellow property millionaire and the person behind the event says she searched high and low to bring together the exceptional line up of speakers including Hunt, who "collectively are worth multi, multi-millions", and many of whom who will be speaking for the first time.
"It took me a while to find individuals who knew what they were talking about and that I could trust. One of my key criteria was finding really down to earth individuals such as Josh, who came from very average backgrounds and families, and through them, show investors how truly possible it is for anyone to achieve exceptional things through their investing, if they want to."
Josh and wife Paula, who plan to build a private hideaway on the island, will travel to Sydney where Josh will feature as a guest speaker at the Property Secrets of the Super Rich event on at the Manly Pacific on Friday 1 December before heading to Fitzroy Island to have a party on Sunday 3 December to celebrate their latest acquisition.
Dymphna Boholt"s Property Secrets of the Super Rich will be held on Friday 1st - Sunday 3rd December at the Novotel Manly Pacific Hotel, 55 North Steyne, Manly, Sydney, 9am - 5pm each day. Bookings are essential and can be made on http://www.DymphnaBoholt.com.
