Clothing Collection with a Conscience
- VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA, December 13, 2006 - The Suburbia Clothing is a Vancouver based clothing company seeking to inject edginess and individuality back into the urban streets through distinctive graphic T-shirts and apparel designed by Vancouver Artist Yulee Hong.
Clothing is a creative expression of self like any other art. With mass produced style pervading closets everywhere, The Suburbia provides a refreshing alternative for style craved fashionistas searching for clothing pieces fantastically different from the norm. The clothing line consists of artistic designs on T-shirts and sweatshirts featuring bright punchy colour combinations and unconventional design placements. The vibrant play on colours is a key aspect to the designs and complements the collection"s edgy design prints.
"I wanted to create designs that stood out amidst the chatter of all other designs currently out in the market. It"s very rewarding when customers tell me that friends and even strangers come up to them to compliment them and ask about the tees." - Yulee Hong
Launched in the summer of 2005 by 21 year old UBC business student and graphic designer Yulee Hong, The Suburbia Clothing is a living rebellion to the misconception that entrepreneurship is only for business professionals who have done laps in the corporate world.
"Too many people dream. Not enough people do. Fortunately I rather enjoy defying convention." - Yulee Hong
Philosophy
All success is rendered pointless if the social context of the company is ignored. To strive solely for personal success is a meaningless aim. To combat this, The Suburbia is also a fundraising medium with a portion of proceeds from all sales channelled to charity. One charity currently supported is the Vancouver Downtown Eastside Women"s Shelter . This holiday season The Suburbia will also donate and deliver dozens of brightly wrapped warm sweaters as gifts to Vancouver"s less fortunate homeless population.
Because Love without action is simply a myth.
The Suburbia collection is available in various boutiques in Vancouver including You and Whose Army, Global Atomic Designs, Dream, Twigg & Hottie, Helmet Salon and Boutique, Ayden Gallery, and Comor/Pacific Boarder, as well as shops in Seattle and Victoria. The collection will be at Portobello West fashion and art market on December 16th at the Rocky Mountaineer Station in Vancouver. The collection is also available online at www.TheSuburbia.com.
