Fabulous Finch Begins Donation Program for Save the Gouldian Fund

- MURFREESBORO, TN, December 30, 2006 - Fabulous Finch, a specialty breeder of Lady Gouldian Finches, has entered into a campaign to bring public awareness to the plight of the Gouldian finch in nature. The Gouldian finch is native to the northern most regions of Australia, and it"s estimated that less than 2500 of these birds exist in their natural habitat. They are listed on the Threatened (Endangered) Species List by the Australian government.

It is not completely understood why the Gouldian has suffered such a massive historical decline over the last 50 years, although habitat degradation from overgrazing is highly suspected. Save the Gouldian Fund, based in Cooranbong, Australia, is managed by Mike Fidler, one of the foremost authorities on Gouldians in the world. Fidler and his team are dedicated to the study of the demise of the Gouldians, and repopulating their numbers in the wild.

Fabulous Finch has established a link from their website to Save the Gouldian Fund, encouraging visitors to contribute directly to the fund. Additionally, effective 12-1-2006, Fabulous Finch has pledged to donate 5% of all bird care product sales to the fund on an ongoing basis. For more information visit http://www.FabulousFinch.com. />
