FAMILY SERVICES OF WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA STAFF AND SERVICE RECIPIENTS TO SPEAK AT MONROEVILLE TRANSPORTATION HEARING
- PITTSBURGH, PA, January 21, 2007 - The first speaker from this group, Mr. Alex Salego a staff member of Family Services" Psycho Social Rehabilitation program is currently scheduled to speak at 4:15PM. The last speaker from the group is scheduled to speak at 5PM. Each speaker is scheduled for three minutes.
Family Services of Western Pennsylvania serves thousands of individuals each year. The lives of many of these people are beset by a variety of disabilities. The life circumstances of many of these local citizens mandate an almost total dependence upon public transportation. Without the availability of affordable bussing, trips to locations such as jobs, stores, or even service providers such as doctors and therapists quickly become impossible. As a result staff members, service consumers, and their families are all concerned about the impact of the proposed transportation route limitations and reductions. Their concern is for the damage that the proposed cuts will inflict upon the collective quality of life of Southwest Pennsylvania"s citizens and communities.
In addition to speaking at this hearing, this group has been active in communicating with their elected public representatives.
