Children"s Self-Defense Book Title Says it All

- SHERMAN OAKS, CA, January 30, 2007 - "I Need to be SAFE: I"m Worth It!" shows children and parents how to escape attackers and abductors while raising self-confidence. "The book is based on my C.L.A.S.S. Self-Defense program which teaches children how to defend themselves in any threatening situation while learning in a non-threatening environment", says Janet Goliger. " I took the program to the local community and was elated when it became so popular. Parents continuously asked for more information to take home, so I decided to put my program into a book format that could be understood by children, taught at home and under the supervision of the parent."

"I Need to be SAFE: I"m Worth It!" shows parents how to work with their child using the step-by-step pictures and captions for each of the 32 self-defense techniques, how to be aware of your surroundings, identifying strangers, approached by a stranger, safety levels, and safety tips. The techniques are simple yet effective enough for any child to escape the clutches of an abductor. "The reality is that children are small, weaker than their attackers, and they are vulnerable", says Janet Goliger " however, they are not defenseless if we arm them with the appropriate tools. They need to know to never enter that car, never grab that hand, and how to get away before they are grabbed. The key to their survival is the ability to recognize danger before something happens, and the ability to flee if attacked by surprise. Children must fight back."

The book explains how essential it is for children to repetitively practice self-defense techniques on a regular basis, so it becomes second nature to them, to react quickly and with confidence. This book gives them that chance.

Safety Tips For Survival:

• React quickly. Don"t let your attacker get a strong hold on you making is impossible for you to defend yourself.
• Make as much noise as possible. Throw all your possessions to the ground allowing them to be scattered. No attacker wants evidence lying around.
• Kick, yell, and act wildly to escape from a potential abductor.
• Use survival techniques: stomp on the foot, kick to the knees, elbow to the abdomen and face.
• Use a weapon if possible. Turn everyday objects like a pencil, or anything rigid or sharp, as a weapon against your attacker.
• Run quickly to a safe place or populated area. Never continue to fight.
