We need your blood at our drive on 2/10/07 in Bridgewater, NJ to address the great shortage and increased demands
- BRIDGEWATER, NJ, February 04, 2007 - Garretson Road Church of Christ announces its summer blood drive. There is a shortage of blood in our area. Because of this, Garretson Road Church of Christ will be hosting a blood drive with the Central Jersey Blood Center. One pint of blood can save three lives.
During winter, many regular blood donors are on vacation and miss their contribution. However, with more people traveling in and around our area, there are more accidents leading to a greater need for blood for surgeries. Another observation is the fact that the usual donors between 17-25 years who can give are being deferred for one year due to the increase in body piercing and tattoos. With less people available to give and more demands on the limited supply, there is a great shortage of blood.
Garretson Road Church of Christ (www.grcofc.com) is a bible-based church located in Bridgewater, NJ. It was established in 1966 by the exodus movement. As part of their reaching out ministry, this church does two blood drives annually, one in summer and one in winter when there is the greatest demand and a reduction in blood donations.
Central Jersey Blood Center (www.cjbcblood.org) is located in Shrewsbury, NJ and opened its doors to its first blood donor in July of 1965. The mission of the Blood Center is to provide an adequate, high quality and safe supply of blood, blood products and other related services to meet the needs of the area hospitals. Central Jersey Blood Center services many hospitals as a primary supplier, along with numerous other hospitals as a secondary provider. Approximately 65% of the blood supply comes from mobile blood drives sponsored by area businesses, communities, schools, and other organizations.
