A musical way to launch Nippon Paints - Asia"s biggest paint company
- BANGALORE, INDIA, February 04, 2007 - How do you launch a new paint brand in a country that grew up on names like Asian and Nerolac, aided by top notch brand ambassadors like the Big B or Saif Ali Khan. Fact still remains that consumers still are confused as to who endorses what.
Hence the need to break free and impose a memorable property in the minds of the people. Jonoo Simon, Creative Director, JWT, Chennai hit upon the right idea when he borrowed from the charming style of the broadway musicals, and created a unique brand ambassador called Mr.Perfect for the latest Nippon paint ad. A fantasy tale magician who comes to town with his magical brush and brings colour into the lives of Lady Laila and her family.
A simple before and after story, this commercial is about the dull and dreary life of a family that"s suffering from damp walls, peeling plaster and fungus infested corners.
The story is narrated in the form of a touring theatre company that drives into the village and presents the tale of Lady Laila.
Chief among the highlights of Nippon film is an excellently choreographed dance sequence by Yana Lewis, renowned dance diva from UK, who has to her credit shows with Bryan Adams, Elton John and some of BBC"s prestigious productions. Her in-depth knowledge and exposure to ballet and western dance forms added to the production values immensely.
Filmed by Thinkpot Productions, Bangalore and directed by Manoj Pillai, the initial responses to the commercial, currently being aired in Tamil and Telugu, has been more than encouraging. Says Manoj, "Different" is the word I hear whenever anybody talks about this film. As a director, I couldn"t have asked for more I guess."
