The Civil Justice Foundation Celebrates 21 Years of Public Advocacy

- February 07, 2007 - The Civil Justice Foundation is proud to announce it is holding its 21st annual reception at the 61st annual American Association of Justice (formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America) Winter Convention at the Loews Miami Beach on February 12, 2007, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm.

This year"s reception will be highlighted by a meeting of the Board of Trustees, where the Foundation will welcome Jim Bartimus as the new President of the Board of Trustees for 2007. The Civil Justice Foundation is governed by a 26-member Board of Trustees made of up 19 members of the American Association for Justice (the AAJ, formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America) and seven consumer advocates. The Trustees are appointed by the President of the AAJ, the Board of Governors of the AAJ, and the Civil Justice Foundation Board of Trustees.

Formed in 1986 by members of the former Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Civil Justice Foundation is a national not-for-profit charitable organization dedicated to the principle that all Americans are entitled to unobstructed access to the civil justice system, and through grants to progressive grassroots consumer advocacy groups it furthers public awareness and education about the law for working families, individual workers, and consumers.

For the last 21 years, The Civil Justice Foundation has awarded over $1.3 million to 109 consumer advocacy groups throughout North America, giving a voice to the voiceless, hope to the hopeless, and defending the rights of victims in an increasingly impersonal and callous legal system. Through sponsorship of consumer injury protection, public safety protection, and constitutional right-to-trial preservation groups, the Foundation maintains an alliance between trial attorneys and advocacy groups to continue to protect the rights of every American.
